Truth-telling
The duty to be honest with patients about their diagnosis, prognosis, and any mistakes in their care, balanced with sensitivity to how and when information is shared.
Truth-telling sits behind collusion and candour scenarios. You cannot withhold information a patient with capacity wants, but you can deliver it compassionately and at their pace.
