Section 47 enquiry
A local authority’s legal duty to investigate when there is reasonable cause to suspect a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm.
You do not run a Section 47 enquiry yourself — you refer a child-protection concern to children’s social care, who decide on investigation.
