Opt-out organ donation
Also known as: Deemed consent, Max and Keira’s Law
The system in England and Wales whereby adults are considered willing to donate organs unless they opted out or are in an excluded group; families are still consulted.
Understanding deemed consent — and that the family is always involved — helps with sensitive end-of-life and donation discussions.
