NURSE (responding to emotion)
Also known as: NURSE
A framework for responding to emotion — Name it, show Understanding, Respect/praise, offer Support, and Explore further. A practical way to handle a tearful or anxious patient.
NURSE gives you concrete things to say when a station turns emotional, so you respond rather than freeze. Even using one or two of its elements visibly lifts your interpersonal score.
