Compliance and adherence

Terms describing how well a patient follows a treatment plan; adherence (which implies agreement) is now preferred over compliance (which implies obedience).

Exploring the reasons behind poor adherence — side effects, cost, beliefs — is more effective and more humane than simply telling a patient to take their tablets.
